Embuxao started as a studio project between David Fonseca and Marc Sokpolie. Hand by hand they worked out several tunes with very satisfactory results. The need to share and expand came in very soon.

Martijn Peerenboom joined in and brought with him the touch of the latin percussion. Coincidence was hanging around at the same place and it brought them a gift; Lola Peña with the flamenco “duende” who raised the group to a much higher level. Last but not least to join this rhythm explosion was Bart van Dalen bringing with him the sounds from timbales and bongos and the Spanish Cajon.

As most of other initial bands, they started playing with already known tracks, but the versatility and the general outlook of the group demanded that original material should be composed to fully represent its potential.
The harvest produced a completely fresh way of listening to music; sense and life awakening and always in harmony and respect with the traditional ways.
